As the name suggests, on a center console, the helm is in the middle of the boat, offering a full walk-around feature from bow to stern. Center console boats vary in size, anywhere from 12 ft-60ft! Theses boats are great for fishing, families, and water sports.
Dual- console's have the helm station on either the port or starboard side, as opposed to the center. Just like center consoles, dual- console boats vary in size. These boats are great for fishing, or just a day out on the water!
A cuddy cabin boat is a boat that has a small cabin, not typically big enough for standing, but usually contains a small head (toilet) and seating. Cuddy cabin's can come in either center or dual console models.
Flats boats are fishing boats that are meant to be used in shallow water. These boats vary in length but typically, do not exceed 26ft. These boats are great for fishing in shallow bay water, or in rivers where larger boats cannot go. These boats often have a trolling motor on the front. A downside to these boats is that they do not handle rough, or choppy water very well.
Bowriders or "runabouts" are a great family boat. These boats vary in size between 17ft- 35ft and typically can accompany between 6-10 passengers. Bowriders are great for speed, and typically handle rough water well.
Deck boats are similar to bowriders, however they can typically hold more passengers. They are named deck boats because of the immense open deck space these boats contain. A key distinction of a deck boat is the rounded and flat shaped bow. These boats are great for families, and for entertaining, however they are not great at handling choppy water conditions, and are best used in lakes, rivers, and bays.
Cabin cruisers are boats that have a cabin that is larger than a cuddy cabin. These boats range from 25ft- 45ft, and the size of their cabin ranges. Typically, these cabins can contain 1 head, a stateroom or bed, a stove/kitchenette, and dining table (the features in the cabin vary depending on size)
These boats are great for families, and for people wanting to get out for a weekend on the boat. Usually, these boats can handle choppy water with no problem.
Pontoons and tritoon's are boats that are great for families, entertaining, and parties. These boats are spacious and can usually seat 10-14 people. These boats are best used on lakes, bays, and rivers, as they do not handle choppy water well. These boats vary in size and features.
Yachts vary greatly on size and features however, yachts typically range from 40ft- and up. Yachts typically have 1 or more staterooms, 1 or more heads, a kitchen, a living room area, and an outdoor table/ seating area. Luxury yachts typically come with immense high-tech features.
There are also a variety of yachts available:

- Flybridge yachts
Wakeboats aka ski-boats are boats that are meant specifically for water sports, such as waterskiing, wake- boarding, tubing, knee boarding etc. These boats are capable of reaching very high speeds, and are typically used on lakes. These boats are great for families, and great for people who love to participate in water sports. The sizes of these boats vary, as well as the features. Some wakeboats offer racks to hold water sports equipment. (pictured above)
